New on the blog: sibling rivalries and death wishes

In her latest blog post, Archivist Christine English presents more material from a file entitled ‘Notes for intended paper on memory’, this time focusing on sibling rivalry.

In the notes, typed and showing Klein’s handwritten annotations, Klein writes about ‘patient C’, whose dreams reveal a murderous hatred toward her two younger siblings. Klein notes that death wishes against these siblings aroused enormous anxiety in the patient, and that one effect of this was to motivate loving, even maternal feelings towards them.
