Join Irma Brenman Pick and Penelope Garvey for an exploration of Brenman Pick’s collected works, Authenticity in the Psychoanalytic Encounter (edited by M Fakhry Davids and Naomi Shavit, Routledge, 2018).
In this important body of work, Brenman Pick presents vivid clinical narratives that demonstrate her interest in the early roots of conflict in her patients, and her skill in addressing these in the here-and-now of the psychoanalytic encounter. Using the book as a touchpoint, the conversation will explore her original contributions to psychoanalytic thinking in areas such as countertransference, authenticity, adolescence and sexual identity.
Irma Brenman Pick is a Distinguished Fellow, Supervising and Training Analyst and former President of the British Psychoanalytical Society.
Penelope Garvey is a Training Analyst of the British Psychoanalytical Society and works in private practice. She is one of the co-authors of The New Dictionary of Kleinian Thought and a co-editor of The Klein Tradition.
Psychoanalyst Anne Amos will chair the event.
All attendees will receive a link to a recording of the event shortly afterwards, valid for one month, and a discount code for 20% off the book price.
We are a charity, and we rely upon income from events like these to continue our work. However, just as it is a challenging time for us, we understand that many others are in a similar situation, and we do not want the price of entry to be a barrier to anyone keen to attend our online events. If the ticket price is prohibitively high for you at the current time, please email the MKT Administrator, who has a number of free places available for each event.
