(Re)discovering Bion in Nicola Abel-Hirsch’s new book, Bion: 365 Quotes

Bion: 365 Quotes book cover

In a new addition to our Resources section, Eleanor Sawbridge Burton discusses Nicola Abel-Hirsch’s book Bion: 365 Quotes. The article briefly describes Bion’s contribution to analytic thinking, and explains Abel-Hirsch’s decision to use short excerpts as a way of making Bion’s dense and multi-layered prose more accessible.

Sawbridge Burton writes: “Reflecting Bion’s own efforts not to ‘over-digest’ ideas in his writing – to exhaust or overdevelop them – Abel-Hirsch has provided a stimulating sample of his thinking, whilst also leaving space for readers to explore their own connections and lines of enquiry.”
